Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : Two terrorists were neutralized at the scene of the attack which occurred at the entrance to Jerusalem, resulting in the tragic deaths of three Israelis on Thursday morning. The attack took place at the Givat Shaul junction, where two terrorists opened fire from their car at civilians standing at a bus stop. The attackers used an automatic weapon and a handgun to carry out their heinous act.

After the shooting began, nearby security forces and a civilian responded swiftly to the attack. One of the terrorists was reportedly shot and left in serious condition, while the second was eliminated. The quick response of the citizen and the soldier who arrived at the scene prevented a much bigger disaster. However, the attack still claimed the lives of a 24-year-old woman, a 73-year-old man, and a 60-year-old woman. Eleven other individuals were also wounded, five of them seriously. The injured were immediately evacuated to hospitals in the Jerusalem area, including Shaare Zedek Medical Center and Hadassah Ein Kerem.

The terrorists responsible for this act of violence were identified as brothers Murad and Ebrahim Nemer, both residents of East Jerusalem. Prior to the attack, both individuals had served time in Israeli prisons for security offenses. Their affiliation with Hamas, a Palestinian political and militant group, further underscores the gravity of the situation.

In the aftermath of the attack, Jerusalem District Superintendent Doron Turgeman arrived at the scene to conduct a security assessment. A thorough search of the area was carried out to ensure there were no additional assailants.

The mayor of Jerusalem, Moshe Leon, expressed his concern over the attack, describing it as a serious incident. He commended the quick response of the citizen and soldier, emphasizing that their actions prevented further loss of life. In response to the attack, the city plans to increase security patrols to enhance the sense of safety among residents.

The new U.S. ambassador to Israel, Jack Lew, also condemned the attack and extended his condolences to the families of the victims. He described the attack as abhorrent and emphasized the United States’ unwavering stance against such brutal violence.

As the investigation into the attack continues, it serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing security challenges faced by Jerusalem and the need for continued vigilance in maintaining the safety of its residents.
