Bryan Rodriguez Lagunas, a 27-year-old resident of Woolwich, was lying in the roadway on Route 130 near Pine Street in Carneys Point when he was hit by a car in the early hours of November 24. Carneys Point Police Detective Joseph Racite provided this information.

The driver responsible for the accident did not stop at the scene, prompting a search by the police. Authorities announced on Wednesday that they were looking for a red, four-door Toyota Corolla. However, positive progress has been made in the investigation, as investigators located the vehicle and subsequently spoke with the driver. The driver, a 52-year-old man from Penns Grove, is reportedly cooperating with the ongoing investigation, according to Racite.

As of now, no charges have been filed in connection with the incident. Police are still seeking to speak with a passenger who was in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Racite stated that the driver did not know the passenger well.

The circumstances surrounding why Rodriguez Lagunas was lying in the roadway remain unclear. However, investigators do not believe he was assaulted prior to being struck by the car, nor do they believe any other vehicles had hit him before the fatal collision.
