Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : Surat, Gujarat – In a tragic incident that unfolded on Wednesday, a massive fire erupted at a chemical manufacturing plant in Surat, Gujarat, leaving seven workers dead and several others injured. The bodies of the missing workers were discovered in the early hours of Thursday, following an extensive search operation by officials.

The chemical manufacturing unit, owned by Aether Industries Ltd, located in the Sachin industrial area of the city, became engulfed in flames. Out of the seven victims, one was an employee of the company, while the remaining six were working on a contractual basis, according to Surat Collector Ayush Oak.

The deceased have been identified as Divyesh Patel, Santosh Vishwakarma, Sanat Kumar Mishra, Dharmendra Kumar, Ganesh Prasad, Sunil Kumar, and Abhishek Singh. It is a devastating loss for their families and a somber reminder of the dangers faced by workers in such industries.

The fire broke out at approximately 2 am on Wednesday, triggered by an explosion in a large tank due to the leakage of inflammable chemicals stored within it. It took the tireless efforts of 15 fire tenders and nine hours of non-stop firefighting to finally bring the blaze under control, as stated by Surat in-charge chief fire officer Basant Pareek.

In a statement submitted to stock exchanges, Aether Industries confirmed the incident, stating, “…we hereby inform that an incident of fire was reported at the manufacturing site of the company at Plot No. 8203, GIDC Sachin, Surat, today early morning around 01:50 Hrs.” The company also expressed deep regret for the injuries sustained by approximately 25 people during the incident.

As investigations into the cause of the fire continue, the focus now shifts to the injured workers. Currently, 24 individuals are receiving treatment at various hospitals in the area. The authorities are working diligently to ensure that they receive the necessary medical care and support.

This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of enforcing stringent safety regulations in industries dealing with hazardous materials.
