Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A tragic incident occurred in Mesquite, Nevada, as a pedestrian lost his life after being struck by a pickup truck while walking through a roundabout, according to the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol. The incident took place on the evening of November 15, at approximately 5:10 p.m., at the intersection of Oasis Boulevard and Ivy Lee Crest.
The Nevada State Police promptly responded to a distress call reporting the crash. The investigation revealed that a GMC Canyon pickup truck was traveling northbound on Oasis Boulevard, approaching the roundabout, when a pedestrian unexpectedly stepped into the lane directly in the path of the GMC. Tragically, the pickup truck collided with the pedestrian, causing severe injuries.
The pedestrian, identified as Gordon Dwyer, a 69-year-old resident of Mesquite, was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Dwyer’s injuries were too severe, and he was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
This unfortunate incident marks the 66th fatal crash reported by the NSP Southern Command in 2023, resulting in a total of 80 fatalities.
