Gurpatwant Singh Pannun : India Assures Follow-Up Action After US Charges Indian Man in Alleged Plot to Kill Khalistani Terrorist

Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : India Assures Follow-up Action in Alleged Plot to Assassinate Khalistani Terrorist

In response to the intensified legal actions taken by the United States against Indian national Nikhil Gupta for his alleged involvement in a plot to assassinate Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun on American soil, India has assured that it will take necessary follow-up action. Arindam Bagchi, spokesperson for India’s Ministry of External Affairs, issued a statement acknowledging the seriousness of the allegations and the ongoing investigation into the matter.

“We have already stated that the US side shared some inputs pertaining to the nexus between organized criminals, gun runners, terrorists, and others during our discussions on bilateral security cooperation,” said Bagchi. The Indian government has formed a special Enquiry Committee to thoroughly investigate the issue, demonstrating its determination to address any implications for its international relations and internal security.

The US Justice Department announced on Wednesday that an Indian government official had allegedly orchestrated an unsuccessful assassination attempt against Sikh separatist leader Pannun, who is an American citizen. Federal prosecutors in Manhattan stated that Gupta, working with the Indian government employee responsible for security and intelligence, conspired from India to assassinate Pannun in New York City.

Gupta, facing charges of murder-for-hire and conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire, was arrested by Czech authorities and is pending extradition. The collaborative efforts of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the FBI’s Counterintelligence Division were commended for thwarting the plot.

The case against Gupta involves detailed communications between him and the Indian government official. The official provided Gupta with personal information about the target, including his home address, phone numbers, and daily routine. The official also arranged for an advance payment of $15,000 to be delivered to an undercover DEA officer, whom he believed to be a hitman.

Furthermore, court documents indicate that Gupta was involved in international narcotics and weapons trafficking prior to being recruited for the assassination plot. This suggests a broader network of criminal activities and possible governmental collusion.

The Indian government’s formation of the Enquiry Committee highlights its commitment to uncovering the truth and taking appropriate action against those involved in the alleged plot. As the investigation progresses, India’s Ministry of External Affairs has assured that it will closely cooperate with the United States in addressing this serious matter.
