Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : 27-Year-Old Man Charged with Sexual Offences Targeting Female Youths in Halifax Area

A 27-year-old man from Middle Sackville, N.S. has been charged with several sexual offences related to targeting female youths in the Halifax area following an arrest two weeks ago. The arrest came after an investigation was initiated on September 28, when police received two complaints of sexual assault involving youth victims.

According to a media release by the RCMP, the suspect had been using SnapChat to communicate with youths, attempting to sell vape products in exchange for sexual acts. The man was identified as the user of at least four separate accounts on the messaging platform.

As the investigation progressed, it was discovered that the suspect drove a 2019 blue Ford Mustang convertible to attend meetings that he arranged with the minors. On one occasion, a victim boarded the vehicle and was driven to a location within HRM where she was sexually assaulted.

Jehad Abdelghani, 27, was subsequently arrested at the Halifax Regional Police headquarters on November 16. He has been charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, making sexually explicit material available to a child, and two counts of luring a child. After being released on conditions, Abdelghani is expected to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on January 10, 2024.

The RCMP has issued a warning against any form of vigilante activity or unreasonable conduct towards Abdelghani. They are also urging anyone with additional information regarding related incidents or potential victims to contact the police at 902-490-5020.

In addition to the two known victims, police believe there may be other victims throughout the Halifax area. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working diligently to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of online safety and the need for parents and guardians to educate their children about the potential dangers of communicating with strangers on social media platforms. It is crucial to remain vigilant and report any suspicious or inappropriate behavior to the authorities.
