Taneka Gardner Michael Brown Dr Kevin Smith : “Trial Date Set for Andre Ruddock, Accused in Church Ritual Throat-Slashing Case”

Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : THE DEFENCE and the prosecution in the case involving Andre Ruddock, who is accused of slashing the throat of a woman during an alleged church ritual in St James almost two years ago, have reached an agreement on the trial date and mode. This update was provided by Justice Judith Pusey during the plea and case management hearing at the Home Circuit Court yesterday. However, the hearing has now been rescheduled to December 18, with the defendant remaining in custody.

Ruddock’s attorney, Anthony Williams, has expressed his client’s preference for a judge-alone trial. However, the prosecution has requested more time to seek legal advice on the permissibility of this request.

The tragic incident occurred during a sacrificial ritual at the Pathways International Kingdom Restoration Ministries in St James. The victim, 39-year-old Taneka Gardner, lost her life in the incident. Additionally, a man named Michael Brown was found dead on the church premises on October 17, 2021. Ruddock was apprehended by the police following a series of bizarre events that led to the deaths of these two individuals. He allegedly confessed to Gardner’s murder.

Both Ruddock and Gardner were members of the ministry, which was led by the late Dr. Kevin Smith. Gardner had been introduced to the church by her aunt, while Ruddock was employed by Dr. Smith to care for his animals and perform various tasks around the church.

Brown, who is now deceased, was also a member of the church and was suffering from a health issue that required the use of tubes attached to his body. Shockingly, Dr. Smith allegedly told Brown that he had to die but would rise again, claiming to be the resurrection and the light. Subsequently, Dr. Smith pulled out the tubes, causing Brown to bleed to death.

Tragically, Dr. Kevin Smith himself died a week later in a car accident while being transported to Kingston for formal arrest and charges related to the alleged ritual.

In addition to Anthony Williams, attorney-at-law Venice Brown is also representing Ruddock in this case.

The trial will undoubtedly shed light on the shocking events that unfolded at the Pathways International Kingdom Restoration Ministries, providing justice for the victims and their families.
