Deadly Shooting at Jerusalem Bus Stop Leaves Three Dead and Several Injured

In a tragic incident on Thursday morning, two Hamas attackers opened fire at a crowded bus stop in Jerusalem, resulting in the death of three people and leaving several others wounded. The attack occurred during a temporary ceasefire between Hamas and Israel, which has been extended day-by-day and has successfully held for nearly a week.

The Israeli police have identified the attackers as brothers Murad Namr, aged 38, and Ibrahim Namr, aged 30. According to reports, both men had previous records of incarceration in Israel, with Murad having served a ten-year sentence for his involvement in a terrorist attack plot.

In a swift response, two off-duty Israeli soldiers, along with an armed civilian, retaliated and successfully neutralized the two attackers, resulting in their deaths. The victims of this heinous act have been identified as Livia Dickmann, aged 24, Elimelech Wasserman, aged 73, and Hanna Ifergan, who was in her 60s.

Hours after the attack, Hamas took responsibility and claimed that it was in response to what they referred to as “the occupation’s crimes of killing children and women in Gaza.”

Israeli security minister, Itamar Ben Gvir, who leads the country’s far-right Otzma Yehudit party, emphasized the need for strength and resilience in the face of such incidents. He stated, “This type of incident proves again how much we can’t show weakness, how much we have to speak to Hamas only through intentions, only through the war.”
