Islamabad [Pakistan], December 1 (ANI): A devastating incident occurred in Pakistan’s Balochistan province when a fire broke out in a private coal mine in the Duki coal field, resulting in the death of two coal miners and leaving three others injured. The incident, which took place at a depth of 3,500 feet, resulted in the complete destruction of the mine.

According to a report by Dawn, five miners were working inside the mine when the fire erupted in an engine. Trapped underground, they faced a harrowing ordeal as the mine was engulfed in flames. Mines Inspector Maqsood Ahmed informed that rescue teams were immediately dispatched to the site upon receiving information about the fire. They began a daring operation to rescue the trapped workers.

Tragically, despite the best efforts of the rescue teams, two miners, identified as Abdullah and Barkhatullah from Afghanistan, lost their lives. Meanwhile, three other miners, namely Said Jan, Roozudin, and Matiullah, sustained burn injuries and were rushed to Duki Hospital for medical treatment.

This incident comes just days after another fire broke out at RJ Mall in Karachi’s Rashid Minhas Road. The fire claimed the lives of ten people and left 22 others injured. The fire was eventually extinguished by the Fire and Rescue team, who responded promptly to the emergency. Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab confirmed the casualties and expressed his condolences for the affected individuals.

These incidents highlight the urgent need for enhanced safety measures in mines and public spaces. The loss of precious lives underscores the importance of stringent safety protocols and regular inspections to prevent such tragic accidents from occurring.

Authorities must now conduct a thorough investigation into both incidents to determine the cause of the fires and identify any lapses in safety procedures. It is essential that lessons are learned from these incidents to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

The families of the victims are undoubtedly devastated by the loss of their loved ones, and it is crucial that they receive the necessary support and assistance during this difficult time. The government and relevant authorities must ensure that compensation is provided to the affected families and that measures are put in place to prevent future accidents.
