SUV Driver Succumbs to Injuries After Collision with Garbage Truck in Wethersfield

The incident took place at approximately 2:41 a.m. on Saturday, prompting a swift response from the Wethersfield Police Department.

Upon arriving at the scene located at 1130 Silas Deane Highway, officers discovered the aftermath of a severe two-car motor vehicle crash involving a Kia sport utility vehicle and a garbage truck. The Kia driver, later identified as 23-year-old David J. Lopez from Wethersfield, had to be extricated from the mangled vehicle with the assistance of the dedicated members of the Wethersfield Volunteer Fire Department.

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Aetna Ambulance promptly arrived to provide essential medical attention. Two individuals, including one with life-threatening injuries, were swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for immediate treatment, as reported by the police.
