Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : Man Arrested in Multan After Fleeing Following Acid Attack on Woman
MULTAN: A man who had been on the run after allegedly killing a woman in an acid attack in Jalalpur Pirwala last year has been apprehended with the assistance of Interpol, the police reported on Thursday.
The fugitive, identified as Muhammad Arshad, along with his accomplices, allegedly broke into Hafiza Bibi’s residence in Jalalpur Pirwala in 2022 and viciously threw acid on her. Tragically, Bibi later succumbed to her injuries, while her six-year-old son, Faisal, also suffered injuries in the horrifying incident.
This arrest was made possible due to the persistent efforts of the Punjab Inspector General of Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, who ordered the CPO Multan, Mansoor Ul Haq Rana, to issue standing orders for the capture of proclaimed offenders, even if they had managed to escape abroad.
The successful apprehension of Arshad is a significant breakthrough in the pursuit of justice for acid attack victims. Acid attacks are heinous crimes that cause immense physical and psychological trauma to the victims. They leave lasting scars, both physically and emotionally, and often result in lifelong suffering.
By bringing Arshad to justice, law enforcement authorities have sent a strong message that such acts of violence will not go unpunished. The arrest also serves as a reminder that the long arm of the law can reach even those who attempt to evade justice by fleeing the country.
The Interpol’s cooperation in this case highlights the significance of international collaboration in the fight against crime. With the increasing globalization of criminal activities, it is crucial for law enforcement agencies to work together to apprehend criminals and ensure the safety and security of individuals across borders.
The arrest of Muhammad Arshad is a step forward in the battle against acid attacks and sets a precedent for holding perpetrators accountable for their heinous actions. It is hoped that this arrest will provide some solace to the victims and their families, knowing that justice is being served. The law enforcement agencies must continue their efforts to eradicate such horrific crimes and create a society where every individual can live without fear of violence.
