Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : Indian Student Rescued After Months of Captivity and Brutal Abuse in Missouri

A shocking incident has come to light in the US state of Missouri where a 20-year-old Indian student was rescued by authorities after being held captive for several months. The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was subjected to unimaginable cruelty, including being denied access to a bathroom, enduring brutal beatings, and forced labor at three different homes. The prosecutor, Joe McCulloch, described the situation as “absolutely inhumane and unconscionable.”

The police have arrested three suspects, identified as Venkatesh R Sattaru, Sravan Varma Penumetcha, and Nikhil Verma Penmatsa, after they were found at a residence in St Charles County. The accused have been charged with multiple offenses, including human trafficking, kidnapping, and assault.

According to the charges, the Indian student was confined to a basement for over seven months, where he was forced to sleep on an unfinished floor without access to a bathroom. He was also forced to scavenge for food from nearby restaurant dumpsters. The victim was mercilessly beaten with various tools, including an electrical wire, PVC pipe, metal rods, and a water supply hose.

The Indian student is currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital for multiple bone fractures, lacerations, and injuries throughout his body. McCulloch expressed his shock and disgust at the treatment the victim endured, stating, “It’s absolutely inhumane and unconscionable that one human being could treat another human being like this.”

The main suspect, Sattaru, is believed to be the ringleader of the trio. He has been charged with human trafficking and contributing to human trafficking through the misuse of documentation. The student had immigrated from India last year with the intention of studying at the Missouri University of Science and Technology. However, instead of pursuing his dreams, he was forced into labor and subjected to daily chores and tasks.

Neighbors of the accused expressed their shock, as they had previously had pleasant interactions with the family. The three suspects, who are wealthy and have political connections in India, are currently being held without bond at the St Charles County Jail.

This horrifying incident serves as a reminder of the dark reality of human trafficking and the importance of vigilance in identifying and rescuing victims. The Indian student’s ordeal has sparked outrage and calls for justice, as authorities work to ensure that the accused face the full extent of the law.
