Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : Pune, December 1: A tragic accident on the Pune-Nashik Highway this morning claimed the lives of three individuals and left five others injured. The incident occurred around 5.45 a.m. when an SUV collided with a moving truck amidst thick fog. The SUV, identified as a Cruiser jeep, was traveling from Nashik towards Pune’s Bhosari when it failed to notice the truck ahead due to the poor visibility caused by the early winter fog.

The collision between the SUV and the truck was forceful, resulting in the SUV being thrown off the road and suffering severe damage to its front half. Unfortunately, three of the eight occupants of the SUV lost their lives in the impact. The deceased have been identified as Madhukar T. Ahire, 52, Shantaram S. Ahire, 50, and Pankaj K. Jagtap, 36, all residents of Jaikheda in Satara district.

Two of the injured individuals were later transferred to a private hospital for further treatment. Among the injured, two are in critical condition, while the other three have sustained minor injuries.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the thick smog in the area may have played a significant role in the accident. It is believed that the SUV driver failed to notice the truck ahead, leading to the collision. However, a detailed investigation is currently underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.

The Manchar Police promptly responded to the incident and worked to clear the debris of the SUV from the highway. By 8 a.m., the traffic congestion caused by the accident was successfully resolved on both sides of the busy Pune-Nashik Highway.

This unfortunate incident serves as a reminder of the importance of cautious driving, especially during adverse weather conditions.
