Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : Two coal miners lost their lives and three others sustained injuries in a tragic incident that occurred in a private mine located in Pakistan’s Balochistan province. The fire broke out in the Duki coal field, according to a report by Dawn, a Pakistan-based news outlet.
The incident took place when five miners were working at a depth of 3,500 feet inside the mine. A fire erupted in an engine, trapping the miners and causing the mine to be engulfed in flames. Mines Inspector Maqsood Ahmed stated that rescue teams promptly arrived at the scene upon receiving information about the fire. The teams immediately initiated an operation to rescue the trapped workers.
Despite the rescue efforts, two miners, identified as Abdullah and Barkhatullah from Afghanistan, lost their lives in the incident. Three other miners, namely Said Jan, Roozudin, and Matiullah, suffered burn injuries and were rushed to Duki Hospital for treatment.
This incident follows another fire-related tragedy that occurred in Karachi on November 25. A fire broke out at RJ Mall on Rashid Minhas Road, claiming the lives of ten individuals and injuring twenty-two others. Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab confirmed the casualties and stated that the fire had been extinguished.
According to a statement by the Fire and Rescue spokesperson, they were alerted about the incident early in the morning, and eight fire tenders, two snorkels, and two bowsers were dispatched to the scene to extinguish the fire.
These incidents once again highlight the risks faced by miners and the importance of safety measures in the mining industry.
