Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : Fire Incident Claims Lives of Two Minors in Rumuruti, Laikipia County
Police authorities are currently conducting an investigation into a devastating fire incident that resulted in the tragic deaths of two young children in Rumuruti, located in Laikipia County. The incident occurred in the Mutanga area of Muhotetu location. According to reports from the police, the fire originated in a two-roomed timber house, claiming the lives of a three-year-old boy and his one-year-old sister.
Eyewitnesses in the vicinity had reported hearing a loud explosion prior to the outbreak of the fire. Subsequent investigations revealed that the explosion was triggered by a gas cylinder, which ultimately led to the catastrophic blaze. Authorities have classified this incident as a Wednesday afternoon tragedy, and are currently working to determine the exact cause of the explosion.
Disturbingly, gas cylinder explosions have been on the rise recently, raising concerns about their overall safety. In August, a gas cylinder explosion in Eastleigh, Nairobi resulted in the death of one individual. Similarly, earlier this month, a hotel in South B shopping center witnessed a gas cylinder explosion that left four workers injured. With these incidents in mind, several government agencies have launched investigations to address the issue of gas cylinder safety.
The crime scene has been meticulously processed, and the bodies of the deceased minors have been transferred to the Nyahururu Hospital mortuary, where they await autopsy. Meanwhile, in Wajir, police are currently investigating a suspected drowning case. The body of a man, identified as Yusuf Abdi Mohammed, was discovered in an abandoned quarry filled with rainwater in Khorof Harar. Local children from Bura Daw Yare stumbled upon the lifeless body while grazing animals in the area.
With the continuous heavy rains, the number of deaths caused by flooding in various incidents across the country has risen to more than 136.
