Lumbini, Dec 2: A devastating road accident in Lumbini, Rupandehi has resulted in the untimely demise of two individuals. The victims have been identified as Mohammad Irsad, 21, and Rubina Khatun, 16, both residents of Lumbini Saskritik Municipality-4, according to Manohar Bhatta, the spokesperson at the District Police Office, Rupandehi.
The fatal incident occurred this morning when a school bus belonging to Siddhartha Pratibha Boarding School, Suryapura, collided with a motorcycle at the Lumbini Kakarahawa road section. The motorcycle, bearing the registration number Lu 37 Pa 8482, was carrying Irsad and Khatun at the time of the accident.
Tragically, both victims lost their lives on the spot, while another passenger, Apasara Khatun, 17, sustained injuries. Apasara is currently receiving medical treatment at the Universal Medical College in Bhairahawa.
The news of the accident has sent shockwaves through the local community, leading to an outpouring of anger and frustration. Incensed by the incident, enraged locals set fire to the school bus in retaliation. The police are now actively searching for the driver of the bus.
