Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : PHARR, Texas (ValleyCentral) — New information has emerged regarding a fatal crash that occurred in Pharr back in November. Yozmara Garcia has been taken into custody and charged with intoxication manslaughter in connection to the incident which claimed the life of 22-year-old Roel Solis.

ValleyCentral has obtained a criminal complaint that sheds light on the details of the crash. According to the complaint, on November 18 at approximately 12:02 a.m., an investigator from the Pharr Police Department was dispatched to the 700 block of W. Nolana Loop in response to a major vehicle accident. Upon arrival, the officer discovered a severely damaged black and blue Chevy Malibu, with the front left quarter extensively impacted, positioned in the inside westbound lane facing westward. Additionally, a red Ford Expedition was found in the middle lane facing north.

During the investigation, it was revealed that there were two individuals in the backseat of the Malibu, one of whom had sustained a shoulder injury requiring surgery. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Yozmara Garcia. When officers checked her purse for identification, they discovered a black handgun.

Tragically, Roel Solis was found in the front driver’s seat and was unresponsive. Pharr EMS personnel were unable to detect a pulse. Firefighters were then called to the scene to extract Garcia from the driver’s side. She was subsequently placed on a gurney and transported to the hospital. It was at this point that an officer detected the odor of alcohol emanating from Garcia’s breath and person.

Further statements from one of the other passengers revealed that all three individuals had been consuming alcoholic beverages prior to the accident. They also reported that Garcia had been driving recklessly within the apartment complex’s parking lot before accelerating at a high rate of speed upon exiting.

Following her arrest, Garcia’s bond was set at $105,000. As of Saturday, she remains incarcerated.

The revelation of these additional details underscores the seriousness of the charges that Garcia faces. The consequences of driving under the influence can be devastating, as demonstrated by the loss of Roel Solis’ life. This tragic incident serves as a reminder for everyone to prioritize responsible and sober driving to ensure the safety of themselves and others on the road.
