Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : A tragic accident occurred in Jamalpur’s Sadar upazila early Sunday, resulting in the death of a police constable and leaving another injured. The incident took place when a local train collided with a police van at a rail crossing. The deceased constable was identified as Ahsanul Haque, a 32-year-old resident of Rajnagar village in Kamlakanda upazila, Netrokona. Ahsanul was a dedicated constable serving at the Sadar police station.
The injured constable, Ariful Islam, was immediately rushed to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital in critical condition. Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Mahabbat Kabir of the Sadar police station confirmed the details and expressed his concern for Ariful’s well-being.
The tragic incident occurred around 4:15 am when a Dewanganj-bound train collided with the patrol police van at Shekhervita rail crossing. Ahsanul lost his life instantly, while Ariful sustained severe injuries. Local sources reported that the gate of the crossing was not properly pulled down when the Dewanganj-bound train from Dhaka was passing through the Shekervita area.
This unfortunate incident has raised concerns about the safety measures implemented at rail crossings. The lack of proper gate operation contributed to this devastating accident, resulting in the loss of a valuable life and leaving another fighting for survival.
