Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : A horrific incident unfolded in New York City on Sunday morning, as a man stabbed four members of his own family to death and injured two police officers before being shot and killed by authorities. The New York Police Department received a distressing call from a teenage girl around 5:10 a.m., reporting that her cousin was killing her family members. Officers quickly responded to the scene, a multi-family home located at 467 Beach 22nd Street in Queens.
Upon their arrival, the suspect, identified as 38-year-old Courtney Gordon from the Bronx, was seen attempting to leave the premises with luggage. In a shocking turn of events, Gordon attacked the officers, stabbing one in the head and another in the neck. The officers defended themselves, resulting in Gordon’s fatal shooting by a veteran officer with nearly three decades of experience.
Before fleeing the scene, Gordon set the house on fire, forcing the police to wait for the fire department to arrive and extinguish the flames. Once they gained entry into the home, officers discovered five victims who had been stabbed. Tragically, four of them, including a 12-year-old boy, a man in his 30s, and a 44-year-old woman, did not survive their injuries. An 11-year-old girl was found outside the house, injured but alive. However, she was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. Additionally, a 61-year-old woman was found in critical condition and was also rushed to a nearby hospital.
The injured officers, who are in critical but stable condition, were transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center for treatment. As investigations continue, authorities have not released the identities of the victims. However, they believe that all the deceased individuals were related to one another.
The incident has left the community in shock and the police department reeling. “This shows that police officers never know what they’re responding to, what’s awaiting them on that scene. This scene was chaos; multiple victims, a house on fire, and a madman on a rampage, on a mission,” said Police Benevolent Association President Patrick Hendry during a press conference.
The tragic events of that Sunday morning serve as a grim reminder of the dangers that law enforcement officers face daily. The investigation into the motive behind the attack is ongoing, as the community mourns the loss of innocent lives.
