Alison Marshall : “Newbury Park Man Faces Murder Charge for Attacking Mother with Hammer”

Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : Prosecutors are preparing to file a murder charge against a 21-year-old man from Newbury Park, California, who allegedly attacked his 63-year-old mother with a hammer. Tragically, the victim, Alison Marshall, passed away on Friday afternoon at Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, according to Captain Dean Worthy, spokesperson for the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.

Initially, prosecutors charged the woman’s son, Scott Goldberg, with attempted murder after the incident that took place on November 19 inside their family home on Mayfield Court. Goldberg was also charged with assault with a deadly weapon against his 64-year-old father, who fortunately survived the attack.

However, the District Attorney’s Office is now working on upgrading the charges to murder, which is expected to be finalized on Monday, as reported by Erin Meister, a supervising senior deputy DA.

Scott Goldberg, who was initially held on a bail set at around $500,000, had his request for bail denied by Superior Court Judge Patricia Murphy. Consequently, he will remain in custody until the trial.

As of now, Goldberg has not entered a plea to the original charges, and his arraignment, previously scheduled for December 20, may be affected by the upgraded charge.

Scott Goldberg is currently detained at the main jail in Ventura County, and the investigation into this tragic incident is ongoing.
