Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : An Idaho man has been taken into custody after allegedly killing his wife and kidnapping their infant son, who was later found dead, according to the local sheriff’s office. The body of 10-month-old Zeke Best was discovered on Saturday, approximately 20 miles from Idaho Falls, after a group of hunters called 911 to report seeing a man in a sleeping bag on the side of the road. The witness stated that the man, identified as 48-year-old Jeremy Albert Best, was “naked and making odd statements,” according to a statement from the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities believe that after undergoing a psychological evaluation, Jeremy Albert Best killed his wife, 38-year-old Kali Jean Randall, and fled with their infant son, triggering an Amber Alert for the 10-month-old. The baby boy was found dead at the scene, but authorities have not disclosed where Zeke’s body was discovered or the cause of his death.
Earlier in the day, Best had been evaluated by EMS at the Swan Valley General Store, where he was reported to be nude and causing a disturbance. He was then transported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center for further medical and mental health concerns. It is unclear what transpired at the hospital, but Best was discharged that afternoon.
Only a few hours after leaving the hospital, Best returned home to allegedly kill his wife and abduct their baby. Deputies received a 911 call from the Best residence, reporting an argument. When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they discovered the body of Kali Jean Randall.
The Teton County Sheriff’s Office issued an Amber Alert, describing Best as an “armed and very dangerous homicide and kidnapping suspect.” Later that day, hunters spotted a naked Best in Bonneville County and called 911. Best was secured and placed in a patrol car, and Zeke’s body was found near the area where he was located.
The investigation into this tragic incident is being conducted by Bonneville County Detectives, Idaho State Police, the Teton County Sheriff’s Office, the Idaho Falls Police Detectives, and the FBI. Jeremy Albert Best has been transported to the Bonneville County Jail and booked for the outstanding homicide warrant in Teton County. He will remain in custody until his arraignment.
