Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : Hamilton County, Tenn. – In the early hours of Sunday morning, a deputy from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a Chevrolet Cavalier in the Hixson area after noticing that the license plate did not match the vehicle. However, the driver of the car chose to ignore the deputy’s signal and instead sped up in an attempt to flee. Unfortunately for the driver, the wet road conditions caused him to lose control of the vehicle multiple times before finally coming to a stop in a nearby parking lot. Not willing to give up, the suspect then attempted to escape on foot.
As he ran, the suspect dropped a Glock firearm, which he had been carrying with him in the vehicle. Undeterred, he continued his escape attempt and ran behind a nearby building, eventually finding himself in a creek. It was at this point that law enforcement officers were able to apprehend him.
Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the vehicle involved in the pursuit had been reported stolen just two days before the incident occurred. The driver was identified as Lance Rogers and it was revealed that he had two active warrants out for his arrest. One warrant was related to an auto burglary that occurred on November 11 and was being investigated by the Chattanooga Police Department, while the other warrant was related to a business burglary that took place on November 2 and was being investigated by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
A search of the stolen vehicle was conducted and burglary tools, including a pry bar and bolt cutters, were found. Lance Rogers, born in June 1979, now faces a long list of charges including vandalism, theft of property, driving on a revoked license, seat belt violation, felony evading arrest, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, resisting arrest, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
