Nebraska State Patrol Investigates Aurora Homicide
AURORA, NEB. – The Nebraska State Patrol is currently conducting a thorough investigation into an incident that occurred early this morning in the peaceful town of Aurora, resulting in the tragic death of one individual and leaving two others injured. Authorities are treating the incident as a homicide and are actively seeking answers.
According to reports received by the Aurora Police Department at approximately 1:20 a.m. on Saturday, a distressing stabbing incident had taken place at a residence located in the 100 block of Fairview Drive. Responding officers arrived to find an adult female with severe injuries at a neighboring house’s driveway. Their attention was then drawn to an individual wielding a knife at the address mentioned in the 911 call.
The person with the knife promptly complied with the officers’ commands and was subsequently apprehended. Further inspection of the residence led to the discovery of two additional victims inside the home. All three victims, who had sustained stab wounds, were quickly transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.
Tragically, one of the victims, identified as 48-year-old Ross Nickolaus, succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. The female victim, whose injuries were described as serious, has been transferred to Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha. Fortunately, the third victim, a juvenile, received treatment for minor injuries and has since been released.
The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Caleb Arnett, was also taken to the hospital to receive treatment for minor injuries incurred prior to the arrival of law enforcement. Following medical care, Arnett was subsequently incarcerated in Hamilton County Jail, facing charges of first-degree murder and two counts of first-degree assault.
Given the gravity of the situation, the Aurora Police Department has requested the assistance of the Nebraska State Patrol in leading the ongoing investigation into this horrific homicide. Authorities are committed to uncovering the truth and ensuring justice is served.
