Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : New Information Released in Homicide Investigation of Thane Clayton
Homicide investigators are seeking the public’s help in locating a vehicle of interest related to the homicide of Thane Clayton. CCTV images of the vehicle have been released to aid in the investigation. The vehicle in question is described as a blue Honda Pilot, manufactured between 2016 and 2022. It is believed to have been present in the area of the Beltline shooting on Thursday, November 30, 2023, around 8:50 p.m.
According to the CCTV footage, the vehicle was spotted traveling in both eastbound and westbound directions on 10 Avenue S.W. It remained in the vicinity of 10 Avenue S.W. and Sixth Street S.W. prior to the murder. After the shooting occurred, the vehicle fled the scene by heading south on Sixth Street S.W., running a red light at 11 Avenue S.W., and then turning west onto 13 Avenue S.W. It continued west until it turned south on 11 Street S.W.
Authorities are urging anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from the area or any information about the vehicle or its driver to come forward and contact the police or Crime Stoppers.
In an update provided by the police, the victim has been identified as Thane Cameron Clayton, a 40-year-old man. Police are requesting anyone who may have had recent contact with Thane to reach out to them. Thane is not believed to be from the Calgary area, but rather has ties to Vancouver, B.C., Edmonton, Alta., and Halifax, N.S. The name of the victim will be released once the next of kin has been notified.
The investigation is ongoing, and at this time, it is unclear whether the incident was targeted or random. Detectives are appealing to witnesses and those who may have relevant CCTV or dashcam footage to provide any information that could assist in solving the case.
Detective Lee Treit of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit emphasized the importance of video footage and eyewitness accounts in holding the offenders accountable for this “brazen attack.” He urged anyone with information to come forward and help bring justice to the victim and their family.
