Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) — A tragic incident unfolded in Bloomington early Sunday morning when a house party turned deadly, leaving one man dead and another injured in a shooting incident, according to local authorities.
The identity of the 23-year-old victim who lost his life has not yet been disclosed by the authorities. Responding to a weapons-related call, officers from the Bloomington Police Department swiftly arrived at a residence located in the 500 block of S. Park Avenue around 2 a.m. The incident occurred in a residential area situated just south of Indiana University.
Upon arrival, law enforcement officers were greeted with a chaotic scene as numerous partygoers were seen vacating the premises. Witnesses informed the police that a shooting had taken place. In their search of the vicinity, investigators discovered the lifeless body of the 23-year-old victim, who had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest. Despite their immediate efforts to save his life, the man was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. Additionally, a 19-year-old male was found with gunshot wounds and was promptly transported to a nearby hospital. Thankfully, his injuries were deemed non-life threatening.
According to eyewitness accounts provided to the police, the shooting allegedly commenced when a robust Caucasian male, donning a pink shirt, began indiscriminately firing shots into the crowd. The suspect responsible for the fatal attack was later identified as Isaiah Ramos, a 21-year-old resident of Linton, Indiana.
Further investigation revealed that Ramos and two other individuals were denied entry to the party due to one of them carrying a concealed handgun in their waistband. This rejection led to a heated altercation that quickly escalated and spilled over into a nearby alley. Witnesses recounted that it was during this confrontation that Ramos began firing his weapon into the crowd, causing panic and chaos to ensue.
Promptly launching a manhunt, investigators were soon aided by an Indiana State Police trooper, who conducted a routine traffic stop on a vehicle matching Ramos’ description. The trooper successfully discovered a firearm within the car, leading to the detention of all three occupants. Following detailed interviews, authorities took Ramos into custody.
Ramos now faces preliminary charges of murder and criminal recklessness, and he has been remanded to the Monroe County jail awaiting further legal proceedings. A court date for his case has yet to be determined.
