Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : Tragedy struck the Far Rockaway neighborhood in Queens, New York, early Sunday morning when a horrifying stabbing spree left four people dead, including two children aged 11 and 12. The suspect, identified as 38-year-old Courtney Gordon, allegedly went on a rampage, setting fire to a couch inside the residence before attacking two police officers with a kitchen knife. In an act of self-defense, one of the officers fatally shot the suspect.

The chaotic incident unfolded around 5 a.m. after a distressing 911 call from a young female who reported that her cousin was attacking her family members. Two patrol officers, both seasoned veterans of the New York Police Department, were the first to respond to the scene on Beach 22nd Street. As they approached the residence, they spotted a man, later identified as Gordon, carrying luggage in the driveway.

When the officers began questioning Gordon, he suddenly nodded and launched a violent assault on them using a typical kitchen knife. One officer sustained slashes to the neck and chest area, while the other was cut in the head. Despite their injuries, one of the officers managed to draw his weapon and shoot the perpetrator, effectively stopping the attack.

Following the shooting, authorities faced another challenge as they discovered an 11-year-old girl outside the front door of the home, suffering from stab wounds. Tragically, she was pronounced dead at the hospital. The officers were unable to immediately enter the house due to a fire that had been intentionally set in the living room by the suspect.

The New York City Fire Department swiftly arrived at the scene and extinguished the blaze, allowing officers to enter the residence. Inside, they made a horrifying discovery. Three people, including a 12-year-old boy, were found fatally stabbed in two back bedrooms. A 61-year-old woman was also discovered with stab wounds and was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition.

The names of the victims have been withheld by the police until their relatives can be notified. Authorities believe that the victims and the suspect are related. The motive behind this heinous act remains under investigation.

During a news conference, Patrick Henry, president of the New York City Police Benevolent Association, commended the injured officers for their bravery and skill in neutralizing the attacker. He emphasized the importance of their presence, stating, “Imagine what could have happened if these police officers weren’t there.”

As the community grapples with the devastating loss and unanswered questions, law enforcement agencies continue to work tirelessly to uncover the motive behind this senseless act of violence.
