Man Kills Four Relatives in Knife Attack at New York City Home

New York City was struck with tragedy on Sunday when a man brutally killed four of his relatives, including two innocent children, in a horrifying knife attack at their home. The incident took place in the early hours of the morning in Far Rockaway, a coastal neighborhood in Queens.

The police received a distressing call at approximately 5:10 a.m., reporting that a family member was in the process of murdering their loved ones. NYPD Chief of Department Jeffrey Maddrey confirmed this during a morning press briefing. Upon arriving at the scene, the officers encountered a man attempting to flee the area with his luggage. In a matter of seconds, the suspect brandished a knife and launched a vicious attack.

During the altercation, one officer sustained stab wounds to the neck and chest, while the other was slashed across the head. In response, the injured officers quickly subdued the assailant, with one ultimately shooting and killing him, according to Maddrey.

Inside the residence, authorities discovered the lifeless body of an 11-year-old girl, who succumbed to stab wounds. Due to a raging fire in the living room and foyer, law enforcement initially faced difficulties entering the premises. However, once inside, they uncovered three additional victims who had suffered fatal stab wounds: a 12-year-old boy, a 44-year-old woman, and a man in his 30s.

Another woman, aged 61, was gravely injured in the attack and is currently in critical condition, fighting for her life with multiple stab wounds.

Fortunately, both wounded police officers are expected to make a full recovery, displaying tremendous resilience and bravery in the face of danger.

Authorities have identified the suspect as 38-year-old Courtney Gordon, who had been visiting the victims’ family from his residence in the Bronx. At present, the identities of the victims have not been disclosed.

Patrick Hendry, the head of the New York Police Department’s police union, described the crime scene as chaotic, highlighting the multiple victims, the engulfed house, and the assailant’s ruthless rampage. Hendry commended the officer’s exceptional marksmanship and ability to neutralize the threat while being stabbed, emphasizing their remarkable skill.

This tragic incident follows closely on the heels of another knife attack that occurred in the Bronx just a week prior, claiming the lives of three individuals. Authorities revealed that a college student, who claimed to be “hearing voices,” brutally murdered his father, his 5-year-old half-brother, and the young boy’s mother.
