Victim: 23-year-old Bloomington man (deceased) Victim: 19-year-old Bloomington man (injured) : “Fatal Shooting at Indiana University Party; One Dead, One Injured; Suspect Arrested”

Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : One man has been killed and at least one more wounded after a dispute over admission to a party near the Indiana University Bloomington campus. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning, and a 21-year-old man from Linton, Indiana, named Isaiah Joseph Deleson Ramon, has been arrested and charged with murder, according to a news release from the Bloomington Police Department (BPD).

The shooting took place at around 2 a.m. in the vicinity of Park and Hunter avenues. Upon responding to reports of gunshots, officers discovered a 23-year-old Bloomington man with a gunshot wound to his chest. Despite their efforts, the victim could not be saved. Another victim, a 19-year-old Bloomington man, sustained injuries that are believed to be non-life-threatening and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Through interviews with multiple witnesses, police detectives have been able to piece together a preliminary account of the events leading up to the shooting. It is believed that Ramon and two other men attempted to gain entry to a party near Park and Hunter avenues but were denied access due to one of them visibly carrying a gun in his waistband. This refusal sparked a confrontation that escalated into a physical altercation in a nearby alley.

Witnesses reported seeing a larger-built white male with facial hair, wearing a pink shirt, draw a handgun and open fire into the crowd. Shortly after the incident, an Indiana State Police trooper conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle carrying three passengers, one of whom matched the description of the suspected shooter. This individual was later identified as Ramon, and a handgun was discovered inside the vehicle. All occupants were detained and transported to the Bloomington Police Department for questioning.

The investigation into the shooting is currently active, and the police are requesting anyone with information to contact Detective Rob Shrake at (812) 339-4477. As of now, no further details are available for release.

This incident has sent shockwaves throughout the Bloomington community, highlighting the need for increased security measures and vigilance in preventing such tragic events from occurring in the future. The loss of life is a devastating reminder of the potential consequences of escalating conflicts, and it serves as a call for unity and peaceful resolution in the face of adversity.
