In a tragic accident on Saturday evening, a 52-year-old man identified as Vishnudat Ramilan, also known as “Sanko,” lost his life following a collision at First Hill, Soesdyke-Linden Highway. The incident occurred at around 6:25 pm when an unlicensed 27-year-old woman was driving a motor car bearing registration number PMM 2014 along the northern side of the highway.

Eyewitnesses reported that the female driver noticed Ramilan in the center of the roadway and attempted to avoid him by swerving. Unfortunately, the right-side wing mirror of her car collided with him, causing him to fall onto the roadway. Tragically, Ramilan was then struck by another vehicle, with registration number PJJ 807, that was traveling at a high speed.

The impact of the collision resulted in severe injuries to Ramilan’s head and body, causing his untimely death. Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) were immediately called to the scene and rushed Ramilan to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre, where he was pronounced dead.

Following the incident, both drivers involved in the accident were arrested and are currently assisting with the ongoing investigation. The police are working to determine the exact circumstances leading up to the collision and establish any potential charges that may be filed.

In a separate incident on the same evening, a motorcyclist also lost his life in an accident at Melanie on the East Coast of Demerara (ECD). Details regarding this accident were not immediately available at the time of writing.
