Auraceli Maldonado : “Woman Arrested in Shooting at Roxbury Motel, Male Suspect Still at Large”

Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : Irvington Woman Arrested in Connection with Roxbury Motel Shooting; Male Suspect Still at Large

An Irvington woman has been taken into custody in connection with a shooting incident that occurred at the Roxbury Motel in October, while a male suspect remains on the run, according to authorities who made the announcement on Tuesday morning.

The Morris County Prosecutor’s Office revealed that Auraceli Maldonado, 24, was apprehended in Middleburg, Florida, on November 2, roughly two weeks after the incident took place on October 18. Following an investigation, it was determined that Maldonado was one of two suspects who arranged a meeting with the victim, a 36-year-old man, at the motel located on Route 46.

Surveillance footage from the day of the shooting captured a Honda Accord with New York registration entering the motel parking lot to rendezvous with the victim. In the footage, a man and a woman can be seen exiting the vehicle. Notably, the woman was armed with what authorities described as an “AR-style rifle” during the encounter, as stated in the prosecutor’s office statement.

Law enforcement officials believe that Maldonado and the male suspect robbed the victim, resulting in a struggle that left the victim with a gunshot wound to the leg. Following the incident, both suspects fled the scene. Subsequently, Maldonado was identified as the owner of the Honda Accord, which was observed traveling through East Hanover shortly after the crime occurred.

The victim was swiftly transported to a medical center, where he received treatment for his “severe but not life-threatening injuries,” according to the prosecutor’s office.

Maldonado was extradited from Florida to New Jersey and is currently being held at the Morris County Correctional Facility. However, the male suspect remains at large and has not yet been apprehended or charged.

Maldonado now faces a range of charges, including first-degree armed robbery, second-degree aggravated assault, and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. Her pre-indictment conference is scheduled for January 9.

The investigation into the Roxbury Motel shooting continues, with law enforcement agencies actively pursuing leads to locate and apprehend the male suspect still at large.
