Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : KANSAS CITY, Kan. – The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) has launched a probe into an officer-involved shooting that took place early Monday morning at an apartment complex in Kansas City, Kansas.
According to reports, a concerned citizen dialed 911 shortly before 3 a.m. Monday, alerting authorities to gunfire outside an apartment complex located near 61st St. and Leavenworth Road. In response to the call, law enforcement officers swiftly arrived at the scene and were met with a startling sight: 21-year-old Dominic A. M. V. Lee of Kansas City, Kansas, brandishing a rifle and leaning out of a second-floor window in one of the apartment buildings.
Lee, seemingly undeterred by the presence of the officers, pointed the rifle menacingly towards one of them. In response to the imminent threat, a Kansas City, Kansas Police Department (KCKPD) officer discharged a single round, successfully striking Lee in the shoulder.
After the shot was fired, officers swiftly entered the apartment and apprehended Lee without further resistance. Medical personnel promptly arrived at the scene, providing immediate assistance to the injured suspect. Lee was then transported to a local Kansas City hospital, where he received medical attention for his gunshot wound. Thankfully, no officers sustained any injuries during the incident.
Following his release from the hospital on Monday afternoon, Lee found himself immediately arrested on an outstanding warrant for aggravated assault of a law enforcement officer. Authorities subsequently transferred him to the Wyandotte County Jail, where he was booked and awaits further legal proceedings.
