Young Woman Found Dead in Presidio Heights Apartment, Police Investigate Homicide
Last week, a tragic incident unfolded in Presidio Heights as a young woman was discovered deceased in her apartment. The San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) is currently treating the case as a potential homicide, with suspicions of domestic violence.
According to SFPD reports, officers conducting a welfare check stumbled upon the lifeless body of a woman on Thursday. The residence, located on Clay Street in Pacific Heights, quickly became the center of a police investigation. Over the weekend, sources within the police department revealed that the case was being treated as a potential instance of domestic violence, though the cause of death has not yet been disclosed to the public.
The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Kimberly Wong, a talented user experience (UX) designer who had recently embarked on a promising career. Wong had worked for several San Francisco startups, including Splunk from 2017 to 2021, where she began as an intern and eventually rose to the position of UX designer. Since mid-2021, she had been employed as a product designer at Plaid, a renowned tech company.
It has been revealed that Wong owned the condominium where she resided on the 3200 block of Clay Street. Neighbors, who were left shaken by the tragedy, mentioned the possible presence of a live-in boyfriend. However, the duration of their cohabitation remains uncertain. Wong had been a resident in the building for approximately four years and served as the secretary of the homeowners’ association.
One neighbor expressed their shock, stating, “This is a real shocker. People were very shaken.” Their last sighting of Wong occurred in mid-November when she was attempting to maneuver her vehicle out of the garage.
Former employer Splunk expressed their grief over Wong’s passing, describing her as a diligent and dedicated employee. They offered their condolences, stating that she would be deeply missed.
On her personal resume site, Wong provided insight into her background, mentioning her graduation from the University of Washington’s Human Centered Design and Engineering (HCDE) B.S. program. She also highlighted her passion for bridging the gap between people and technology, as well as her involvement with various women-centric organizations.
Kimberly Wong’s tragic demise has left the community mourning. The SFPD’s Homicide Detail is currently leading the investigation, and no arrests have been made thus far.
