A weekend getaway to the picturesque hills of Nainital turned into a nightmare for a group of 21 HCLTech employees. The group, comprising 14 men and seven women, had embarked on a leisure trip to the hill station on Saturday. However, their joyous journey took a tragic turn when the large vehicle they were traveling in lost control and overturned near Ghatgarh on the Nainital-Kaladhungi road.

The accident occurred around 5.30pm on Sunday when the vehicle experienced a brake failure, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle hit the roadside divider and miraculously stopped just short of falling into a deep gorge below. While the incident could have been far more devastating, it still claimed the lives of two young women and left two others in critical condition.

The deceased have been identified as Sayoni Dubey, aged 28, and Jaya Shakya, aged 23. The bodies of the victims have been sent for autopsy, while the injured are currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Haldwani. The driver of the vehicle also sustained injuries in the accident.
