Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi : “Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, President of SRRKS, Shot Dead in Jaipur: Police”

Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, the president of Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena (SRRKS), was tragically shot dead in Jaipur on Tuesday. The incident occurred at Gogamedi’s home in Jaipur’s Shyam Nagar, where three assailants attacked him. In the ensuing gunfire, one of the assailants was also killed. Gogamedi was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead upon arrival.

The SRRKS is a splinter group of the Shri Rajput Karni Sena (SRKS). Gogamedi was once close to the late Lokendra Singh Kalvi, the founder of SRKS. However, he was expelled from the SRKS in 2015, leading to the formation of SRRKS. Over the years, SRRKS gained prominence through violent opposition to various issues, notably during the protests against the Bollywood film ‘Padmaavat.’ They were responsible for assaulting director Sanjay Leela Bhansali during the film’s shooting in Jaipur.

The motive behind Gogamedi’s murder is still unclear. Reports have suggested that a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, currently imprisoned in Tihar jail, claimed responsibility for the killing. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

The formation of the SRKS in 2006 was a result of the Rajputs’ struggle against their traditional rivals, the Jats. The SRKS was established to resist the alleged mistreatment of Rajputs, including arbitrary detentions and misrepresentation of their history. The outfit was named after Karni Mata, a revered goddess in Rajasthan.

Gogamedi’s murder has shocked the Rajput community and raised concerns about the escalating violence in the region. As investigations continue, authorities are working towards bringing the culprits to justice and maintaining law and order.

The tragic incident has also reignited discussions about the need to address social and political issues faced by various communities. Gogamedi’s demands for an increase in the economically weaker sections (EWS) quota for general castes and the establishment of a Kshatriya Rajput Kalyan Board highlight the ongoing struggle for equal opportunities and representation.

The loss of Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi is not only a personal tragedy but also a blow to the SRRKS and the larger Rajput community. As the investigation progresses, it is crucial for authorities to ensure the safety and security of all citizens, and for society to come together to address the underlying issues that perpetuate such violence.
