Byron Carrillo, a 21-year-old male, has been identified as the suspect by local law enforcement. The unfortunate event occurred on a fateful Sunday afternoon when Carrillo allegedly stole a vehicle following the shooting. A Texas Department of Public Safety trooper later spotted a car resembling the one associated with the suspect on Interstate 35 in Austin, approximately 200 miles south of Dallas. As the trooper attempted to stop the vehicle, Carrillo reportedly fled on foot, seeking refuge behind a business. Tragically, in the parking area, he took his own life with a gunshot.
As news of the incident spread, the public’s focus naturally shifted towards understanding the profile of Byron Carrillo. Reports indicate that the shooting claimed the lives of four individuals, including a heart-wrenching loss of a one-year-old child. Another victim, a fifteen-year-old girl, sustained injuries during the ordeal. The police received a distress call about the incident and swiftly arrived at the scene around 4 pm. They discovered five individuals with gunshot wounds, including two children. While the young victims were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, the other three victims were pronounced dead at the scene. Tragically, the one-year-old toddler succumbed to the injuries, while the teenager was reported to be in stable condition by late Sunday, according to police reports. It is worth noting that a 13-year-old girl was also present in the house during the shooting.
The Dallas County medical examiner’s office has identified the deceased as 20-year-old Vanessa De La Cruz, one-year-old Logan De La Cruz, 33-year-old Karina Lopez, and 50-year-old Jose Lopez.
