Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : Four family members tragically lost their lives in a horrifying stabbing incident that took place in Queens early Sunday morning. The vicious attack also left another individual in the home injured, along with two police officers, according to the New York Police Department (NYPD).

Upon receiving a distressing call from a young girl who reported that her cousin was attacking her family members, the NYPD swiftly responded to a residence in Far Rockaway at 5:10 a.m. NYPD Chief of Department Jeff Maddrey provided details about the incident, stating that two officers encountered the suspect, a family member of the victims, in the driveway as he was leaving the premises with luggage in hand. The officers decided to approach him to inquire about the situation.

Unfortunately, the conversation took a shocking turn when the suspect abruptly brandished a knife, stabbing one officer in the neck and striking the other on the head, Maddrey revealed. In response, one of the officers drew his weapon and fired at the assailant, identified as 38-year-old Courtney Gordon. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, Gordon was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Upon further investigation, it was discovered that an 11-year-old girl had succumbed to her injuries outside the residence. The officers attempted to enter the home to assist the other victims, but their progress was impeded by a fire that had been deliberately started in the living room. The New York City Fire Department promptly arrived at the scene and extinguished the blaze.

NYPD Chief of Detectives Joe Kenny disclosed that the suspect had allegedly ignited a couch before leaving the house. As the officers made their way to the back bedrooms, they discovered four additional victims. Regrettably, three of them—a 12-year-old boy, a 44-year-old woman, and a man in his 30s—did not survive the attack. A 61-year-old woman sustained multiple stab wounds and is currently in critical condition at a local hospital.

The injured officers were also transported to nearby medical facilities for treatment. Fortunately, both are expected to recover from their injuries, according to Maddrey. At the crime scene, investigators found a common kitchen steak knife believed to be the weapon used to harm the officers. No other weapons have been recovered thus far, and the motive behind the brutal attack remains unknown.

Meanwhile, the young girl who made the initial 911 call is being interviewed by the police. Kenny revealed that the suspect, a resident of the Bronx, was purportedly visiting his family in Far Rockaway when the tragic incident unfolded.

The community in Queens is left grappling with shock and grief as they mourn the loss of four beloved family members and hope for the swift recovery of the injured. The investigation into the motive behind this senseless act of violence continues, as authorities work diligently to bring answers and justice to the devastated community.
