Tyreece Stitts : “Berkeley Police Detain Two After Shooting and Standoff in Apartment”

Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : Berkeley police officers took two individuals into custody after gunshots were fired into an apartment on Monday, resulting in a tense five-hour standoff. Responding to a report of a bullet being fired into an apartment on the 2400 block of 8th Street, the Berkeley Police Department (BPD) identified Tyreece Stitts and a minor as the occupants of the apartment from which the shot originated.

As BPD attempted to establish contact with the suspects, a woman named Princess Dennis arrived at the scene and attempted to forcefully pass through the police barricade. Consequently, Dennis was promptly detained by officers. Following the lengthy standoff, Stitts emerged from the apartment and was subsequently arrested, along with the juvenile. Additionally, six pit bulls were turned over to Berkeley Animal Control.

A search warrant was executed at the residence, leading to the discovery of an AR-15-style ghost gun and high-capacity magazines. The chaotic state of the apartment prompted BPD to deem it uninhabitable and unsafe for the juveniles residing there.

In light of the incident, Stitts was hospitalized and is currently under investigation by the police. On the other hand, Dennis was taken into custody on charges including child endangerment, possession of an assault weapon, possession of large-capacity magazines, and resisting arrest.

This news comes amidst ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to curb gun violence and ensure public safety. The incident highlights the importance of prompt police response and the dedication of officers to protect the community from potential harm.
