In recent news, Bidhannagar Police in Salt Lake, Kolkata, has initiated a drive to address the issue of on-road parking violations. The police are taking necessary action against those who park their vehicles on pavements and carriageways. While some residents support this move, others are concerned about the sudden restriction on parking. Residents have expressed their willingness to pay a fee to legalize parking, but currently, no such fee is being collected.
Furthermore, heavy rainfall in Chennai has caused water from Puzhal Lake to flood the northern suburbs. While the area of Mudichur managed to avoid water-logging, the excess water release from Puzhal Lake affected areas such as Theerthagiriyampattu, Vilangadukuppam, Vadaperumbakkam, and Samiyarmadam, resulting in water entering houses.
Lastly, flash floods near Indonesia’s Lake Toba in North Sumatra province have caused one fatality, with 11 people reported missing.
