Mumbai: In a devastating accident on Wednesday, two bikers lost their lives when the tire of a car heading towards the city burst and landed on the Gujarat lane of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad national highway in Vasai. The incident took place in Sakwar village at around 1.15pm. As a result of the car’s tire bursting, the vehicle turned turtle, landing on the Gujarat lane and colliding with a motorbike. The impact of the collision was fatal for the two bikers, identified as Irfan Siddique (36) from Mumbra and Naved Shaikh (30) from Govandi. They were killed on the spot. Two occupants of the car sustained injuries in the accident. The exact cause of the tire burst is yet to be determined.

Road accidents continue to be a major concern on Indian highways, with poor road conditions, reckless driving, and lack of awareness contributing to the high number of fatalities. The driver of the car refused to comply with the constable’s instructions and intentionally rammed into him before fleeing the scene. Mojkar has filed an FIR for attempted murder, rash driving, and negligence. Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage to identify the car and apprehend the driver.

Additionally, commuters in Nashik are facing daily inconveniences due to overcrowding at the bus terminus near Nashik Road railway station.
