Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : In a shocking incident, a 50-year-old man named Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi was shot dead inside his residence. The two assailants, identified as Rohit Rathore and Nitin Fauji, had gained access to his home through an accomplice named Naveen Shekhawat. Unfortunately, Shekhawat was also gunned down by the attackers.
The incident has sparked widespread protests, with demonstrators refusing to collect Gogamedi’s body or allow for a postmortem. In response, the Rajasthan Police has declared a Rs 5 lakh bounty on the two accused and announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh for any information leading to their arrest. Additionally, a Special Investigation Team has been formed to investigate the case.
Efforts to calm the protesters seemed to be making progress as the administration held a meeting with community leaders. During the meeting, the administration assured the leaders that all their demands would be met, including handing over the case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), providing Rs 11 crore in compensation, and offering a government job to Gogamedi’s family. An 11-point agreement was also signed between the administration and community leaders.
However, Gogamedi’s brother and wife expressed skepticism about the agreement, dismissing it as insufficient. Gogamedi’s wife, Sheela Shekhawat, addressed the protesters and vowed to seek justice for her husband. She called upon Rajputs from all over India to join the protest, declaring that there would be a Rajasthan bandh in response to the incident.
In a disturbing development, a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang named Rohit Godara claimed responsibility for the murder. Punjab Police sources revealed that they had previously alerted their counterparts in Rajasthan Police about a threat to Gogamedi’s life by members of the gang. The Punjab Police note stated that the gang had plans to incite religiously motivated riots by killing Gogamedi.
The main accused, Rohit and Nitin, have prior criminal records. Rohit has been involved in cases related to the Arms Act, POCSO, and assault, while Nitin is an Army man with a case against him. The police are investigating any connections between the accused and Rohit Godara or other gang members.
The tragic incident has left the community in shock and anger, demanding swift justice for Gogamedi’s murder. The authorities are now under pressure to ensure a thorough investigation and bring the culprits to justice.
