Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Kenneth J. White, a 40-year-old Indiana man, has been sentenced to six years in prison after pleading guilty to charges related to a fatal 2022 overdose of a woman inside his Bloomington apartment. The incident, which occurred in February 2022, led to White’s arrest on a preliminary charge of dealing in a controlled substance resulting in death.
According to court records, on the night of February 22, 2022, officers from the Bloomington Police Department responded to a call at the Crawford Apartments on Henderson Street. Inside the apartment, they discovered the lifeless body of Aleah Blake. Kenneth White, who claimed ownership of the apartment, was found sitting outside. He informed the officers that he had been allowing Blake to stay there because he assists people in need of housing.
During the investigation, White admitted to using methamphetamine with Blake and selling her some earlier that day. He claimed that after smoking meth together, Blake began to relax and eventually passed out. White stated that he administered Narcan and called 911 after discovering her unconscious state.
However, officers found inconsistencies in White’s story. They spoke with another witness who revealed that White had actually sold Blake heroin, not methamphetamine. Text messages retrieved from White’s phone confirmed this information. Toxicology results showed that Blake had tested positive for naloxone, methamphetamine, opioids, and had a significant amount of fentanyl in her system.
White was subsequently charged with one felony and has been held in the Monroe County Jail for the past 579 days. Since his initial arrest, additional charges were added to his case. On December 12, 2023, White pleaded guilty to reckless homicide, dealing in a narcotic drug, and maintaining a common nuisance – controlled substances. He was sentenced to six years in prison, with an additional suspended sentence of 730 days, and ordered to pay $1,039 in fees.
This case highlights the devastating consequences of drug-related offenses and the importance of holding individuals accountable for their actions. It serves as a reminder of the ongoing battle against substance abuse and the need for comprehensive measures to address this issue within our communities.
