Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : Memphis, Tennessee – In a shocking incident, a 22-year-old man named David Murrelle was arrested on Monday for allegedly stealing a gun from a parked police car in the Medical District. Murrelle is facing multiple charges, including burglary of a vehicle, tampering with/fabricating evidence, and theft of property.
According to the Memphis Police, officers had parked their squad car at 951 Court Avenue and placed their handguns inside the locked trunk. However, a security guard on the property discovered footage showing an unknown man entering the parked squad car, opening the trunk, and taking a handgun. The police were immediately notified, and upon inspection, it was confirmed that one handgun was missing from the trunk.
Shortly after the incident, the security guard spotted the suspect, later identified as David Murrelle, at the intersection of Poplar Avenue and Dunlap Street. The police were called to the scene, and Murrelle was found wearing the same clothing as the person seen in the video. Furthermore, he was found in possession of the stolen handgun from the MPD squad car. The officer was able to recover his handgun after Murrelle allegedly threw it behind a tree.
During the arrest and subsequent transportation to the police department, Murrelle reportedly exhibited aggressive and combative behavior towards the officers. He is now scheduled to appear in court on Thursday morning to face the charges against him.
