Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : HOUSTON – The Houston Police Department is seeking the assistance of the public in locating a suspect involved in a tragic incident that claimed the life of a 17-year-old girl and left a teenage boy injured in what is believed to be a road rage shooting in downtown Houston on Sunday.
The Houston Police Department (HPD) has scheduled a news conference at 1:30 p.m. to provide updates on the ongoing investigation into the incident. For those unable to attend in person, KPRC 2 will be livestreaming the event.
According to HPD, patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 1700 block of the Gulf Freeway around 1:05 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered a vehicle stopped on the shoulder of the freeway. Inside the vehicle, they found an unresponsive female identified as Louise Wilson, who was later pronounced dead at the scene. Additionally, a male occupant of the vehicle had sustained gunshot wounds and was subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment. Fortunately, he has since been released.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Wilson was the driver of the vehicle and made an evasive maneuver to avoid colliding with a braking vehicle in front of her. However, she unintentionally swerved in front of a newer model, black or dark-colored, four-door sedan. It was at this point that an unidentified suspect(s) seated in the passenger side of the sedan opened fire, striking Wilson and another passenger in the back seat. Remarkably, a second male passenger in the vehicle emerged unscathed.
In an interview with KPRC 2, Wilson’s grieving family revealed that she was en route to Galveston to visit friends when the senseless act of violence occurred.
Authorities have provided a basic description of the suspect as a man in his mid-20s. HPD urges anyone with information about the incident to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600. Alternatively, anonymous tips can be provided to Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
As the investigation continues, the Houston community remains on high alert, hoping for justice to be served and for an end to the violence that has plagued the city’s streets.
