Shweta : “Chikkamagaluru: Man kills wife with cyanide-laced food over extra-marital affair, arrested”

Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : New Details Emerge in Chikkamagaluru Cyanide Murder Case

Bengaluru: Shocking details have emerged in the case of a married woman found dead in her residence in Devavrunda village of Chikkamagaluru district. The police have now revealed that the woman’s husband poisoned her to death by mixing cyanide in her food. The accused, identified as Darshan, confessed to the crime during interrogation.

The victim, Shweta, was just 31 years old and had been married to Darshan for seven years. The couple had a 4-year-old son and seemed to have a seemingly normal married life. However, it was later discovered that Darshan had been having an affair with his colleague, which ultimately led to the murder.

The incident came to light on December 11 when Darshan’s brother, Deepak, called Shweta’s brother and informed him that she had suffered a fatal heart attack. However, Shweta’s family suspected foul play, as Darshan and his family had already prepared for her cremation before they could arrive at the village.

Upon objection from Shweta’s family, the police were alerted, and the body was transferred to the Chikkamagaluru district hospital for post-mortem. The police registered a case under IPC section 302 (Murder) and promptly arrested Darshan.

The post-mortem report revealed chemical substances in Shweta’s body, confirming the suspicions of foul play. Forensic experts also collected samples from the crime scene, which are currently being analyzed. Chikkamagaluru SP Dr. Vikram Amathe confirmed that Darshan had confessed to the crime.

“We are waiting for the FSL report to verify the nature of the chemical used, which appears to be cyanide. Shweta and Darshan were married for seven years, and it is evident that Darshan gave her some sort of chemical substance that led to her death,” said Dr. Amathe.

The police also intend to question the woman with whom Darshan had the extramarital affair. Shweta’s family had even released an audio clip in which she could be heard pleading with the woman to stay away from her husband.

As the investigation unfolds, the shocking details of this cyanide murder continue to shake the small community in Chikkamagaluru. The police are determined to bring justice to Shweta and her grieving family, while also shedding light on the illicit affair that led to this tragic end.
