A popular activist and comedian from Minnesota, Tou Ger Xiong, met a tragic end during a kidnapping in Colombia on Monday. The 50-year-old was found dead in a wooded area near an apartment building after being abducted while on a date with a woman he had connected with online during his vacation.

According to reports from Colombian newspaper El Colombiano, Xiong had arrived in MedellĂn, Colombia, on November 29 with plans to spend the holiday season with his family. However, his trip took a horrifying turn when he met an unidentified woman for a date on Sunday and was suddenly kidnapped by several men who demanded a ransom for his release.

Xiong managed to make a distress call to his brother Eh Xiong in the United States, informing him about his captors’ demand for $2,000. Unfortunately, he never confirmed if he received the money, leaving his brother in a state of uncertainty. Eh Xiong promptly contacted a friend in Colombia, who filed a police report.

Tragically, authorities later informed Eh Xiong that his brother had been murdered. They discovered clothing and blood in a bag, leading them to apprehend one of the suspects involved in the crime.

In the wake of this devastating incident, Eh Xiong is now working to bring his brother’s body back home to Minnesota. Senator Tina Smith of Minnesota expressed her condolences and pledged to support the Xiong family in seeking justice. She has been in contact with the State Department and is determined to ensure the safe transportation of Tou Ger Xiong’s remains.
