BREAKING : “Lexington Man Faces Vehicular Homicide Charges for Fatal Head-On Crash Under Influence”

Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : Lexington Man Faces Vehicular Homicide Charges After Fatal Crash

A tragic incident unfolded on Todds Road near the Clark County line in late April, as a woman lost her life in a head-on collision allegedly caused by a Lexington man driving under the influence. The Lexington Police Department has filed charges of vehicular homicide and other offenses against the accused.

The collision, which involved two vehicles, resulted in both drivers being rushed to the hospital. Sadly, the female victim succumbed to her life-threatening injuries and passed away on May 11. The Fayette County Coroner’s Office has identified her as M.E., withholding her full name for the time being.

The driver responsible for the crash, 67-year-old Robert Seeley, was immediately transported to the emergency room at the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital. According to police reports, Seeley veered across the center line of the road, directly colliding with the other vehicle.

During the investigation, signs of impairment were apparent in Seeley’s behavior. He openly admitted to consuming vodka and marijuana prior to the collision. A breathalyzer test revealed a blood alcohol level of 0.149, nearly double the legal limit.

Court documents indicate that Seeley was operating a 1998 Volvo S70 at the time of the incident. On December 6, he was indicted on charges of vehicular homicide, aggravated DUI, and failure to notify the Department of Transportation of an address change.

The indictment states that Seeley’s actions, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or impairing substances, directly led to the death of M.E.

Following his indictment, Seeley was taken into custody and booked into the Fayette County Detention Center. However, he was able to secure his release by posting a $12,000 bond on the same day.

A court date for Seeley’s arraignment has been set for December 22, as per court records.

This unfortunate incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of driving under the influence. It is a tragedy that a life was lost due to the reckless actions of one individual. The legal process will now unfold, ensuring that justice is served for the victim and their grieving family.
