In a tragic turn of events, California police were forced to shoot and kill a woman after she repeatedly pointed a gun at a 3-year-old boy’s head. The incident occurred in San Bernardino on the morning of December 10th when the child’s grandmother made a distressing call to the authorities.

The suspect, now identified as Darvet Brown, had entered the family’s San Bernardino apartment brandishing a handgun. Upon arrival, officers found Brown on the apartment balcony, where she pointed the gun at an officer who had just met the grandmother outside. Brown quickly retreated back into the apartment and locked the door, leaving the young child trapped inside.

The grandmother informed the officers that Brown had already fired the gun inside the residence, creating an extremely dangerous situation for the child. Faced with the immediate threat to the boy’s life, officers kicked down the barricaded door and discovered Brown standing on a bed in the living room, with the gun aimed directly at the child.

Body camera footage captured the harrowing moment when officers realized the boy was in imminent danger. In order to protect the child, officers fired several rounds at Brown. Despite being wounded, she continued to hold the gun and pointed it back at the child when ordered to drop it. In an attempt to save the child’s life, an officer fired one final shot.

Fortunately, officers were able to retrieve the unharmed child and return him to his family members waiting outside the apartment. Sadly, Brown succumbed to her injuries despite receiving medical aid. The motive behind her entry into the apartment remains unknown.

As the investigation into this tragic incident continues, authorities are left grappling with the unsettling question of why Brown posed such a threat to the 3-year-old boy. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers faced by law enforcement officers in their daily efforts to protect and serve the community.
