Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : Virginia State Police are currently conducting an investigation into a fatal three-vehicle crash that occurred in Montgomery County. The incident took place on Friday at around 1:40 a.m. on the southbound side of Interstate 81, specifically at the 108-mile marker.
According to authorities, the crash was triggered when a 2022 Hyundai SUV, driven by 72-year-old Pamela Crockett from Hawthorne, FL, veered off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle collided with the guardrail before eventually coming to a stop in the right travel lane.
Tragically, Crockett, the sole occupant of the SUV, exited her vehicle and was subsequently struck by a 2023 Peterbilt tractor-trailer that was also traveling southbound. The force of the impact caused the tractor-trailer to collide with a 2009 Dodge Caravan, which was stationary on the right shoulder of the road.
Regrettably, Crockett succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the accident. The incident has left the community in shock and mourning the loss of a valued member.
Virginia State Police are diligently working to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. While it is still too early to determine the exact cause, authorities will thoroughly examine all available evidence, including witness statements, forensic analysis, and any relevant surveillance footage. The aim is to piece together a clear picture of what transpired leading up to the collision.
The tragic accident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for drivers to remain vigilant and cautious at all times. Authorities are urging all motorists to obey traffic laws, stay focused, and never underestimate the potential dangers of negligence or recklessness while behind the wheel.
