Consolacion, Cebu – A devastating motorcycle accident in the mountain barangay of Garing, Consolacion town, northern Cebu has left two people dead and four others seriously injured. The incident occurred at approximately 7 p.m. on Friday, December 15, 2023, as the group was returning from a Christmas party at Polpogan National High School.
The victims have been identified as Almaveth Marquez, an 18-year-old resident of Barangay Yati in Liloan town, who was driving the motorcycle, and Jasmin Alarde, a 16-year-old from Barangay Pulpogan in Consolacion. Tragically, they succumbed to their injuries at the scene of the crash.
Lovely Mae Comiso, 18, along with three other individuals identified only by their first names – Janel, Arquieles, and Loel, all aged 16 – also suffered injuries in the accident. They were rushed to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention. The extent of their injuries has not been disclosed at this time.
According to Staff Sergeant Roel Aquino, the case investigator from Consolacion Police Station, the group had decided to take a motorcycle trip to Garing after celebrating their Christmas party. However, tragedy struck when the motorcycle experienced brake failure while descending, resulting in a collision with a tree.
