Death – Obituary – Accident and Crime News : LEMON GROVE, Calif. — In a significant breakthrough, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office (SDSO) made four arrests on Thursday in connection with a series of e-bike thefts. The authorities were able to identify a vehicle linked to the thefts at a residence in Lemon Grove, leading to the arrest of Richard Benedict, a 42-year-old Lemon Grove resident.
The SDSO executed a search warrant at Benedict’s home on Colfax Drive in the afternoon. During the search, law enforcement officials discovered five firearms, ammunition of various calibers, narcotics, and drug paraphernalia. Notably, one of the firearms recovered was an un-serialized ghost gun. Benedict was subsequently taken into custody on suspicion of unlawful firearm and narcotics possession.
The events leading up to the arrest began earlier that day when deputies from the North Coastal Sheriff’s Station spotted a black 7 Series BMW believed to be connected to the e-bike thefts. They attempted to contact Benedict as he exited his residence and entered the vehicle. Upon searching the car, deputies found drugs and ammunition inside.
It remains unclear whether the items discovered during the search of Benedict’s home directly connect him to the e-bike thefts. No further details about the reported thefts have been released at this time.
Alongside Benedict, three other individuals were also arrested in connection with the investigation. David Martinez, 28, Alain Sayvongsa, 46, and Annette Soyinthisane, 36, face similar charges, although their relationship to Benedict has not been disclosed.

The arrests mark a significant step forward in the efforts to combat the e-bike thefts that have plagued the Lemon Grove community. The SDSO’s successful operation demonstrates their commitment to ensuring public safety and holding individuals accountable for their alleged involvement in criminal activities.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities will continue to gather evidence to determine the full extent of the individuals’ involvement in the e-bike thefts.
